General Description

The Senior Supervisor Personal Title Insurance is responsible for overseeing the residential title insurance unit, ensuring compliance with guidelines and regulations, managing performance goals, and resolving complex issues related to title insurance policies. This role involves supervising both exempt and non-exempt employees, managing the escrow unit, directing workflows, and supporting the title insurance claims process. Additionally, the Senior Manager will engage with external stakeholders to enhance service delivery and address challenges that may prevent the issuance of a Title policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

-Lead the Residential Title Insurance Unit: Oversee a team responsible for analyzing legal documents to ensure the issuance of title insurance policies without exceptions, following the guidelines of the American Land Title Association and insurance company underwriting guidance.

-Establish Performance Goals: Set performance goals, ensure adherence to procedures and compliance requirements, and allocate resources to meet performance and quality standards, including compliance with Service Level Agreements. Provide leadership and mentorship through coaching and feedback to communicate expectations for employee performance and facilitate sessions for the sharing of knowledge and best practices.
-Manage Complex Cases: Handle cases with issues preventing the recording of loans in the property register, work with closing lawyers to resolve issues, and, if necessary, visit the Puerto Rico Property Registry to analyze documents and advise on solutions. Engage with external stakeholders to address and resolve complex cases effectively.
-Supervise the Escrow Unit: Oversee the Escrow unit analyzing the need for escrow retentions, preparing escrow contracts, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
-Direct Workflows: Improve efficiencies and streamline service delivery, monitor and manage process changes, and manage title policy information in the systems. Prepares a Dashboard Report of the unit to effectively manage workloads and assign priorities. Ensures performance metrics and quality of business factors are met.
-Perform Presentations: Conduct presentations to lawyers, Mortgage Bankers and external stakeholders on title policy requirements and updates on new regulations.
-Support Claims Process: Assist in the title insurance claims process to determine if loss claims are covered by the title policy.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises at least 11 full-time employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Coach and develop employees.  Foster a spirit of teamwork allows for disagreement over ideas as well as diversity.

Education

Juris Doctor Degree with experience in notarial Mortgage Law and contract management.

Experience

Two (2) years or more of supervisory experience.

Five (5) years or more of experience in the placement and subscription of Title Insurance.

-Prior leadership experience is a strong asset.
-Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review information carefully and comprehensively.
-Writing and verbal communication skills; in both Spanish and English.
-Knowledge in Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
-Excellent analytical and problem solving with the ability to select and implement best solutions.
-Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to provide justification.
-Adapts to change and performs effectively under pressure. 
-Excellent customer service skills.
-Strong ability to multi-task and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
-Strong communication skills and ability to handle difficult conversations.
-Negotiation skills.
