This position can be filled as a Risk Engineer I – Risk Engineer Sr Lead depending on experience.
Job Summary/Description
Position reports to the Director of Risk Management / Risk Engineering. Responsible for recommending risk improvement and mitigation measures to Entergy Nuclear, PowerGen and Entergy Transmission and Distribution. Leadership. Responsibilities include consulting with company personnel regarding the solution of technical problems related to the protection of assets from loss due to fire and/or equipment failure. Must be capable of exercising engineering judgment in the identification and analysis of risk factors for major losses that would result in the damage of company assets and developing resolution strategies to mitigate those risk factors.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Skills include the ability to perform comprehensive sprinkler system analysis, including water supply graphing, and to evaluate various special hazard exposures, such as flammable liquid storage and handling, rack storage and Highly Protected Risk (HPR) protection features on electrical generating facilities including renewable facilities. Provide assistance and technical input to Operations, Design, and Maintenance Organizations. Assignments include collaboration with other professional engineers in developing computational equations or formulation of solutions to technical problems.
Additional responsibilities include:

-Maintaining loss control standards for inspecting, testing and maintaining fire protection systems.
-Ensuring Company facilities comply with fire protection standards and jurisdictional codes.
-Promotes loss prevention throughout the Company through interaction with plant personnel.
-Representing the Company in negotiations with governmental approval authorities.
-Investigating existing hazards and provide recommends risk reduction measures to management.
-Investigating losses and provide recommends corrective action to prevent future losses.
-Coordinating insurance company inspections with plant personnel and assists with responses to insurance company recommendations.
-Develop and presents loss prevention training programs.
-Performing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
-Performing Fire system design reviews.
-Performing natural hazards risk models
Minimum requirements
Minimum education required of the position

-Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection, Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering; or a Bachelors degree and 5+ years of Risk Engineering/ Risk Management and Power Systems Engineering experience.

-Utility Operations experience preferred.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

-Intimate knowledge of fire protection engineering principles and their applications to both fire/property damage risk analysis in industrial facilities.
-Working knowledge of engineering codes and standards.
-Ability to perform quantitative fire hazard analyses and risk assessments.
-Skills include the ability to perform comprehensive sprinkler system analysis and to assess various special hazard exposures, such as flammable liquid storage and handling.
-Must be able to travel 8-10 nights a month.
-Ability to quickly identify exposures and develop and present effective loss control solutions in a concise format to senor level management.
