ROLE- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION- Gloucestershire

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £45,000-£65,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client designs and manufactures products and systems within the Renewable Energy sector. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Gloucestershire on a permanent basis.

Experience within the Process and Chemical industries are favoured.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

- At least 5 (Ideally 10+) years of experience in a similar Engineering position in a manufacturing environment
- Qualified with a Degree / Masters / PhD or similar in Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related relevant subject
- Passionate about Renewable Energy and making a difference
- Strong technical skills with experience of FMEA, DFMA and HAZOP
- Excellent analytical skills, with knowledge of hand calculations, FEA, ANSYS, stress analysis, particle fluid simulation etc.
- Able GD&T
- Strong experience using 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo etc.

- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances

- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient using MS Office
- Excellent organisational skills and time management skills

- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team

 
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

- Being involved throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept to production
- Designing and developing new products
- Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
- FEA, testing, verification, validation and simulation
- Designing varied and bespoke products and subcomponents
- Liaising with manufacturing providers
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
