Job Description: Job Summary The Office Coordinator possesses outstanding organizational and communication skills, is attuned to the operations of the K12 Office, and is proactive in supporting those. The position requires significant administrative capacities including scheduling, organizing, drafting correspondence, the creation and use of Microsoft office documents, and a clear sense of professional protocol. The person serving in this position must be a positive representation of the office at all times and must have an unambiguous understanding of the mission of Hillsdale College and its philosophy.
Essential Job Functions 1. Coordinates with other members of the office team to ensure efficient work-flow and coordinated activity. 2. Takes responsibility for the office spaces, their maintenance, order, stocking, and efficient operations. 3. Oversees the hiring and evaluation process for student workers in the K-12 Department, working in conjunction with other members of staff to assure that student workers are appropriately trained, tasked, and held accountable. 4. Provides direct support to the Director of Operations, coordinating meetings, scheduling, managing communications, and other tasks as needed. 5. Assists in identifying opportunities for process and office management improvements, and the design and implementation of new systems.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience This position requires a high school diploma (Bachelor's degree preferred) and a minimum of two (2) years' administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job.

Physical Demands: Personal Characteristics The Office Manager interacts with College staff and the entire Hillsdale benefactor audience. A neat appearance and a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College mission is essential. This relationship needs to be pleasant, supportive and professional, while maintaining confidentiality as needed. As a leader over student positions in the K-12 office, the Office Manager should be able to provide effective feedback that encourages others towards the Department's goals and culture. Additionally, all K-12 Department personnel must have good communication skills in order to effectively discuss Hillsdale College and the K-12 Department with individuals across the country. Candidates must have an understanding of the mission of Hillsdale College and its philosophy, as well as educational practices and philosophies of the Initiative.
