A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer join a UK known defence manufacturer in the Eastbourne area. This is a great opportunity to join an innovative and creative industry!
Role & Responsibilities:
* Design and develop textile-based products from concept to production.
* Select materials, fibers, and fabrics appropriate for performance, sustainability, and cost.
* Translate design briefs into 2D/3D models and prototypes using CAD software.
* Conduct product testing and refine designs based on performance data and user feedback.
* Collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to optimize for scalability and production.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and sustainability practices.
* Stay informed about textile innovations, emerging technologies, and design trends
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Design Engineering, Product Design, Textile Engineering, or related field.
* Experience in product development, preferably within textile-based industries.
* Strong knowledge of textiles, fabrics, and material properties.
* Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
* Experience in prototyping, pattern making, and technical drawing.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chains related to textile products.
* Excellent communication and project management skills.
