Role Overview: 

This position serves within the Environmental Management Branch of the Indiana Army National Guard. Camp Atterbury located near Edinburgh, IN is the primary duty location for this position. The seasonal maintenance technician will focus on maintaining, repairing, and operating a wide variety of agricultural, construction and forestry equipment, as well as UTV's used for prescribed fire and land management operations. The role directly supports the execution of the Camp Atterbuty Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (INRMP) and mission-critical land stewardship activities.

Salary Statement: 

The salary for this position is $13.00 - $17.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, limited to working 180 calendar days.

A Day in the Life:

Potential duties are widely varied and conducted in support of a full spectrum natural resources management team. Task's will be heavily focused on routine maintenance and repairs of natural resource equipment to include, tractors, skid-steers, UTV's, ATV's, pumps, chainsaws, etc.

-Perform preventive maintenance and repair of agricultural equipment (tractors, mowers,seeders, sprayers).
-Service and maintain construction and forestry equipment (skid steers, mulchers, chainsaws,brush cutters).
-Maintain and repair UTV's and ATV's used in support of prescribed fire operations and field support.
-Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems across diverse equipment types.
-Ensure readiness of prescribed fire support equipment (pumps, slip-on units, hand tools).
-Conduct safety inspections, fluid changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and parts installation.
-Operate equipment to support land rehabilitation, invasive species removal, and forestry operations.
-Maintain accurate service logs, parts inventories, and usage records.
-Assist in training staff in proper equipment operation, care, and field maintenance practices.
-Support other natural resource management activities when equipment maintenance needs are met.

What You'll Need for Success:
-Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
-Valid high school diploma or HSE; or one (1) year of work experience
-Valid driver license
-Demonstrated experience maintaining agricultural, construction, or forestry equipment.
-Small engine repair skills (UTVs, ATVs, pumps, mowers).
-Ability to safely operate and maintain heavy equipment and chainsaws.
-Familiarity with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
-Indiana Department of Corrections Work Crew Boss (training & certification provided)
-Possess or obtain pesticide license of RT or greater (training will be provided)
-Ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times a day
-Ability to stand or stoop for extended periods
-Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MSWord)

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
